WISDOM… Where Are You?

There is a famine in the land, but it is not of food or drink. There is a clarion call and a desperate need for godly wisdom in our society today (See 2 Kings 3:9-12 and Psalm 111:10a). While knowledge is increasing, wisdom is waning and has almost disappeared from the public square, from homes, and religious and educational institutions. We are being called to turn from folly and to respond to the call of wisdom (Proverbs 9, NKJV).
This book, with its corresponding prayers in addition to your own, attempts to help readers to learn wisdom, and find knowledge and discernment that lead to an understanding and a more stable, peaceful, and successful life.

I got your book.Thanks. WISDOM! WISDOM! We need it in our homes, our offices, our churches, our schools and in politics. You couldn’t have chosen a better topic than this. It’s all part of the gospel message. So never relent even after your
retirement. Stay blessed and you will hear from me again.

I enjoyed reading your book “Wisdom…Where are you?”, as my Proverbs devotional. What I do is read the Proverbs chapter you are covering and then I read the corresponding chapter in your book afterwards. In Chapter 6, #2: when you discussed the ant, what an eye opener. I have read Proverbs several times over the years.

This is the first time I know, it will stick with me. Your explanation was on point. Sometimes God opens our eyes at the right time. There are passages we read all the time and then one day a sermon or something in life opens your eyes to see that passage differently. That is what this particular verse did for me. The questions you asked, and the commentaries are very helpful, it allows us to think about what we are doing. The prayer at the end of each chapter was God sent, so powerful. May God be praised! I have recommended the book to several people and also given the book as gifts.

THE BIBLE AND THE MODERN INTELLECTUAL SKEPTICS: – IN DEFENSE OF THE BIBLE

In an age of relativity, skepticism, proliferation of technology, and confusion, people seem to be making up their own Bible, their own God, and their own Theology. However, I would like to share some information that might surprise some of us, and it is this:  Some of the most prominent scientists, politicians, archaeologists, and recent historical figures, believed in the Bible and used it as the basis for their work and for their own spiritual foundation and formation to strengthen and...

THEY SAY: …BUT I SAY

Righteousness and Blessedness of a “deeper treasure” or “MAKARIOS” in the Greek-- according to Christ Jesus, is based on His teaching in Luke 6:27-38 and Matthew 5-- commonly known as the BEATITUDES. What does it mean to be truly blessed and righteous above and beyond the letter of the Law? Who are those who are blessed? What is true righteousness according to Jesus and the New Covenant?  What Jesus is teaching seems daunting even impossible, but be encouraged for on our journey of faith,...

WHO SAID WHAT ABOUT JESUS—YESHUA HA-MESSIACH? …(Jesus the Messiah)

WHAT THE FATHER SAID ABOUT JESUS-THE SON?: --“This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” ---(Matthew 3: 16-17) --“This is My Beloved Son; hear you Him.”  ---(Matthew 17: 5-7) WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT HIMSELF: --I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA: THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE FIRST AND THE LAST. (Rev. 22:13) --Do not be afraid; I AM the First and the Last. (Rev. 1:17b) --I AM the Living Bread that came down from Heaven.  I AM the Water of Life. Whoever believes in me will never...

Fathers’ Day In America

INTRODUCTION: A few things stood out to me which I found to be enlightening and interesting as I awoke at my usual prayer time, about 2:30 a.m. on Fathers’ Day. I wondered what I could say to my two sons, my nephews, --who are now fathers, and a few associates who are about my own age. Off the top of my head, I could not think of an appropriate Scripture right away. So, I opened my Bible to try and begin a search for something that had a message about “Fathers and fatherhood.” To my surprise,...

After Lent, Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, The Great Vigil of Easter, and Resurrection Sunday itself, there is a high “burst” of rejoicing, celebration, and worship.  But when it all settles, what follows afterwards? HEALING PROMISES

BY: Rev. Brenda R. Berry- Presbyterian Pastor Emeritus (2019)  INTRODUCTION:  Science and medicine are good, but the Word of God is living, powerful, sharp, and quick.  It is able to sever marrow from bone and spirit from flesh…”  (Hebrews 4:12) To treat our symptoms is helpful, but by faith, I invite us to apply the Word of God so that we are not only healed, but that we are made whole. Prayer and meditation on the following Scripture verses can be helpful in our search for...

SOME ESSENTIALS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND PRACTICE

According to the Book of Hebrews INTRODUCTION:  Although not sure, this book is believed to be written by Paul because of its format and focus.  Scholars believe that it was written about 70 A.D. when the Temple at Jerusalem was destroyed, and many Jews were dispersed and scattered abroad.  Its purpose was to emphasize the supremacy of Christ in the New Covenant over and above all of what came before in the Old Covenant.  “The term: “better than” is used repeatedly as a key...
