People have sometimes asked :
“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE COVER PICTURE/DRAWING OF THIS BOOK.”
Essentially it is a blend of Hebrew and Greek symbols and letters in which the Scriptures were originally written. All these symbols together represent the unity of the TRINITY.
For the author, this design evolved over time as she was doing her seminary work including the study of biblical Hebrew and Greek, as well as through her travels to places like Galilee, Jordan, Mt. of Olives, Qumran, the Dead Sea, the sites of the 7 churches of the Revelation in Western Turkey — Constantinople/Istanbul, where she and her group had the opportunity to meet with His Holiness Bartholomew in his throne room. There he explained to us how the Christian Creeds were developed and affirmed by the early church fathers and emerging theologians of their time.
She began to develop this design as a caption for her journaling and daily devotional notes.
THE FOLLOWING IS HER ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN THE BIBLICAL/THEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS BOOKCOVER DRAWING:
–The first Hebrew letters at the very top of the drawing spell “YHWH” in Hebrew which is pronounced “Yahweh” and is translated: “Jehovah” in English.
–The ALPHA AND OMEGA represent Jesus’s own expression of Himself as the First and the Last” … the “Beginning and the End.” The “A” is the first letter of the Greek Alphabet while the “O” is the Omega, the last letter of the Greek Alphabet.
–The ICTHUS (fish) is another ancient symbol Christians used to identify themselves as believers in the doctrine of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Supposedly, the scales of the fish represent the mercy of God. (I honestly do not recall where I read or learned this. But I know I heard or read it somewhere. So don’t quote me on this.)
–The Chi Rho is Greek for “CHR” –the first letters of CHRIST. This is still often seen as a symbol on the stole of priests and other ministers. It looks like a Greek- “X”and “R” combined.
–Eventually she made it a drawing/picture/design for this book: “WISDOM…Where Are You?”
–The 6 -pointed star of David at the base of the picture represents God’s faithfulness, triumph, protection, and love for humanity, especially for Israel throughout history… the nation from which our Messiah came. For Christians it represents our SPIRITUAL ROOTS on which our faith is based.
–The CROSS is the symbol of the Christian identity today.
–The DOVE represents the Holy Spirit which, according to the Gospel of John, was seen descending and alighting on Christ as a dove of peace as He came out of the water of baptism at the River Jordan.
NOTE: Along with her own studies, discoveries, and travel experiences over the years, the author has also researched this information on “A.I. Overview” on GOOGLE to reconfirm these themes and symbols.
